What’s the first thing you need to know about generators?

Well, the first thing you need to know is that your home can get FREE “off grid” electricity... even when the grid goes down.

See, SOME generators can plug directly into the main breaker...

And give you FREE “off grid” energy.

Pretty, cool right?

WRONG!

This is called “back feeding”...

And it’s one of the most dangerous things you could do.

See, when you “back feed” a generator...

Not only do you risk getting electrocuted...

But you could fry every single household appliance, electronic, and anything else that’s plugged into your home’s outlets.

But not only that...

You could fry your neighbors’ too.

See, back feeding happens when you plug your generator directly into your circuit breaker using one of these:

A double-male extension cord.

And to demonstrate, let me give you a quick analogy.

See, our power grid works like a one-way street.

Traffic — or in this case, electricity — is SUPPOSED to flow one way.

From the grid... to your home.

However, just like a bad driver can go the WRONG WAY on a one-way street... your home’s electricity can go the wrong way... and BACK into the grid.

And when that happens, it’s as dangerous as driving into oncoming traffic.

You’re literally reversing the flow of electricity... and making every single outlet extremely dangerous.

The electricity can go into your neighbor’s home...

It can go into the surrounding power lines...

Heck, if utility workers are working nearby... they can get electrocuted.

The good news?

There IS a way to safely power your home without “back feeding” a generator...

Using an “Interlock Switch.”

Or, a generator transfer switch.

Both are available at most hardware stores.

This will allow you to safely power your home, without short-circuiting appliances... your neighbor’s appliances... or killing someone.

And this works for most generators.

And speaking of generators...

Which type of generator is “the best” for emergencies like blackouts?

Propane?

Gas?

Diesel?

Most people prefer diesel generators because they’re 50% cheaper to operate than propane generators.

However, if you go with diesel... please, and I mean please...

If you plan to store diesel for a long time...

You will need to treat it with biocides, fungicides, and stabilizers.

Why?

Because diesel does not break down when you store it for long.

In fact, the U.S. Military mandates that all of its diesel be treated with biocide and fungicide, for this exact reason.,

So, unless you plan on sealing your diesel in an air-tight container...

It’s going to start growing microbes, otherwise known as “diesel bugs.”

And these “diesel bugs” are nasty bacteria... mold... and yeast... that can DESTROY your fuel, rendering it completely useless.

In addition, these parasites can rust your generator from within — chewing a hole in your tank AND your wallet.

And they can cause your generator to fail when you need it most.

Imagine a power outage in the middle of winter...

And as you go to turn on your generator...

It fails!

Moreover, diesel generators are by far the stinkiest, noisiest, and filthiest of all generators.

And if you think gas is a better option...

Think again.

Gas, especially the kind that contains ethanol, can also be a problem to store.

Because, just like diesel, it absorbs moisture like crazy.

So you can end up with a cesspool of fungi that DESTROYS your generator from within — if you let it sit for too long.

Fortunately, there’s a better, safer way.

But before I show you my favorite energy source of all and how to build it...

Let me quickly reveal my last and final Generator Survival Secret:

Of all the reasons I’ve seen propane generators fail in the past...

The #1 reason, in my opinion, is THIS:

The propane scam.

See, the propane industry has a dirty little secret that most folks don’t know about.

However, about 20 years ago, the people of Wisconsin learned about this scam the hard way.

Winter was approaching, and folks in Wisconsin bought gallons of propane for their generators in anticipation of a cold snap.

As soon as winter hit, and temperatures fell below zero...

Their generators died!

When service technicians came to fix the problem, they were SHOCKED by what they found.

It wasn’t propane in these tanks...

But Petroleum!

Yes, Liquid Petroleum.

How can that be?

Well, propane comes in a liquid form called, “Liquid Propane.”

And any gas sold as Liquid Propane is, by law, required to be 95% pure propane.

Why would you want pure propane?

Because it has one of the lowest freezing temperatures of any gas.

Authentic liquid propane will run your generator even if it’s 44 degrees below zero.

But here’s where it gets interesting.

The propane dealers of Wisconsin weren’t selling gas under the name “liquid propane.”

They were selling it under the acronym “LP.”

Remember how I said any gas sold as Liquid Propane is, by law, required to be 95% pure propane?

Well, gas sold under the acronym “LP” is NOT.

And unfortunately, when gas has “LP” on the label... it usually means “Liquid Petroleum.”

Why is this bad?

Because liquid petroleum has a much higher freezing point — something the people of Wisconsin learned the hard way.

Essentially, the petroleum “froze.”

To this day, scammy dealers will try to sell you petroleum and tell you it’s propane... just so they can make a quick buck.

It’s disgusting.

People’s lives are at stake.

Fortunately, though, you’re going through this report... and you won’t be taken advantage of.

So remember:

Never trust a label that doesn’t have “Liquid Propane” — or “HD5” — on it.

Oh, and by the way...

If you store your generator in a basement...

Watch out for this one creepy, crawly critter.

There’s a story of a guy who had a generator that worked great.

Until one day...

The culprit?

It had nothing to do with “back-feeding”...

“Diesel bugs”...

Or fungi-infested petroleum.

Instead, the culprit was rats!

Yes, THOSE rats.

Apparently they had gotten into the controller, built a nest, and defecated everywhere.

Which messed up the generator.

I know this goes without saying, but if you plan to keep your generator in the basement...

Watch out for rats.

Now, I know it seems like owning a generator is a lot of work.

In fact, they’re the most expensive component.

And if someone tries to sell you a solar generator for cheap...

RUN.

Cheap generators mean cheap batteries.

And if you ever used a cell phone outside when it’s freezing... you’ll know what I’m talking about.

The battery drains quicker...

The touch screen becomes less responsive...

And if you’re in the cold for too long...

The whole device could shut down.

That’s because once temperatures drop below 32 degrees...

You can’t draw power from some batteries, plain and simple.

And if your generator uses these batteries...

Guess what’s going to happen when temperatures drop below freezing?

I don’t want to depend on something that could break down in a snowstorm.

Nor should you.

So, which batteries SHOULD you use?

Well, I recommend lithium-iron — not ion — phosphate.

LiFePO4 for short.

These batteries can handle much colder temperatures.

So if you live in a cold climate... or... if you’re concerned about winter and need something to keep you and your family warm and toasty...

LiFePO4 batteries are your best bet.

The only downside?

The generators that use these batteries cost a FORTUNE.
