And the 4 most common ways your body loses heat are:
#1) Radiation
That’s when you’re standing or sitting... and your body is radiating heat.
#2) Convection
That’s when cold air brushes against you and robs you of heat...
#3) Breathing
Yes, with each breath you lose heat.
That’s why it’s crucial to stay relaxed and not wear yourself out in an emergency.
And last but not least, one of the WORST ways your body can lose heat...
#4) Conduction
Let me give you an example.
You make a nice, cozy shelter.
You get inside.
Then you put your warm body on the cold ground.
And it starts RIPPING heat from you.
That is a recipe for hypothermia.
That’s why you need to build your bag on the 5 Pillars of Survival.
Do that, and you won’t have to worry about hypothermia or any of the other threats that may come your way.
First, let’s talk about how to stop the cold ground from stripping heat from your body.
You need to create “dead air space” — the space between your body and the ground.
One of my favorite methods is to make a DIY sleeping bag.
All you need is 1 item:
Just fill it with whatever you can find: leaves, twigs, whatever… tie it… and use it as a mattress.
It’ll create space between you and the ground to keep you warm.
The next day simply empty it out, fold it up, and put it back in your bag.
And since your #1 goal is to retain body heat...
Let’s talk about clothing.
Cotton socks...
Denim jeans...
Anything made of cotton is NOT a good option in my opinion.
That’s because cotton holds water.
It’ll stick to your skin.
It’ll cause mobility issues.
And it’s gonna be a huge problem in cold and hot weather.
Use wool or polypropylene instead.
Both are fantastic at wicking off moisture.
I prefer wool because it’s antimicrobial.
But if you’re on a budget...
Polypropylene is good.
Also, remember how I said cold air can brush up against you and rob you of heat?
That’s why one of the most important things in my bag is this:
Now, I can’t take all the credit.
I’ve had help from some of my friends: Army Rangers, Navy SEALs, Green Berets, CIA officers, and other Tier-1 Operators…
And since the world isn’t getting any safer, I thought:
“What’s the best way to get this life-saving information into the hands of people who need it?”
Now, I rarely do 1-on-1 consulting anymore.
It’s way too time-consuming considering I have a wife and 7 kids.
So I thought:
“Why don’t I put together a 3-day seminar?”
I could invite people to a secret location, and share this valuable info with them.
But the more I thought about it, the less it made sense.
These types of seminars are expensive.
Most folks don’t have an “extra” $10,000 lying around… even if it means saving their life — or the life of a loved one.
So then I thought:
“How can I make this as affordable as possible for people?”
And then it hit me.
So I put my 20-plus years of experience in the Intelligence and Survival space… into a brand-new program called:
